Hi there,
It's Election Day, and a lot of the best live coverage tonight won't come from a network at all. Dozens of independent journalists are going live, most of them free to watch, so here's where to find them. All times are ET, and I'll keep this list updated on the web version as more streams surface.
There’s a lot of teaming up going on: Nate Silver’s partnering with three other Substacks. The Downballot paired up with G. Elliott Morris. Chuck Todd and Chris Cillizza are running on Decision Desk HQ's data. Natalie Bencivenga, Nick Valencia and Drill Sgt. Doug are handing off the anchor chair every two hours. Pooling audiences is a cool move (and one we’re starting to see more from indie creator journos), and I'll be watching how it works for them.
WHERE TO WATCH
3 PM
Independent Voices Election Coverage, six hours (3 to 9 PM) with Natalie Bencivenga, Nick Valencia and Drill Sgt. Doug, plus independent correspondents reporting from polling places around the country. Natalie takes the lead at 5 with Facts Over Fear, and Doug picks up at 7 with On Your Left.
Substack's Midterm Hub goes live at 3 with independent political writers, Mark Halperin among them. A good tab to keep open all night.
5:30 PM
Silver Bulletin, The Argument, GD Politics and Slow Boring together. The livestream is free; the live blog is for paid subscribers.
6 PM
The Projection with Chuck Todd (The Chuck ToddCast) and Chris Cillizza (So What), built on Decision Desk HQ's data so they can make their own calls. On YouTube, X, Substack and Noosphere.

Going live tonight and not on this list? Hit reply and tell me where to find you. I'll add you to the web version.

P.S. The big newsrooms are streaming tonight too, and some of their best stuff is built for the feed rather than the TV. The Atlantic goes live at 9 PM with Hanna Rosin, Adam Harris and a bunch of Atlantic staff writers, on YouTube and TheAtlantic.com. (Full disclosure: Project C partners with The Atlantic.) NBC's Kornacki Cam starts at 5:30 PM, and Gadi Schwartz hosts NBC's first vertical-video livestream from Texas at 7:30. CBS News has a data-heavy Nerd Show with Anthony Salvanto and Caitlin Huey-Burns from 5 PM on CBS News 24/7 and YouTube, and MS NOW's Ali Velshi is streaming all night on YouTube and TikTok. And in a real sign of the times, C-SPAN2 is carrying The Young Turks' election show tonight, and C-SPAN3 the PBD Podcast's.

Through real-world examples, quick knowledge checks and practical tips, you'll learn what polls can (and can't) tell you, how to avoid common pitfalls, and how to turn polling data into accurate, compelling stories.

How this newsletter is made: A human (hi, it's Liz 👋) writes, edits and makes every editorial call here. I use Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, as a research tool — each week it sweeps my sources and assembles the first draft of the links roundup. Every link and every word gets a human read before it reaches you.
